For Teachers, By Teachers: Learning at the Primary Pond

Hello Everyone! I’m so happy to share what I hope will become a series on Teaching In Pink. One thing I love most about being a teacher is how collaborative it is. So, from time to time, I’d like to share some teacher blogs that I’ve found helpful in the continual development of my teaching practice. None of this information is sponsored by or affiliated with any of the blogs I share. I just genuinely enjoy these blogs. I hope you’ll take time to check them out, too.

One of my favorite blogs is Learning at the Primary Pond! Learning at the Primary Pond was created by Alison Ryan. She is a literacy specialist who focuses on literacy in kindergarten to second grade. Through her blog, she provides insights and strategies for everything from managing student behavior and keeping them accountable during independent centers to organizing and managing your guided reading groups. I find her posts to be thoughtful and thorough. She also provides online professional development — some of the workshops are FREE! — as well as access to her Teachers Pay Teachers store. Her TpT store is filled with resources for supporting literacy in primary classrooms. I’ve been using her guided reading curriculum in my summer workshop and with students I’ve been tutoring this summer with great success.

I highly recommend Learning at the Primary Pond because Ms. Ryan’s work is thorough and thoughtful. She has literally thought of everything you could need to support primary literacy! In addition to her blog and TpT store, she also has a YouTube channel, and is active on social media. I hope you’ll take the time to check out Learning at the Primary Pond.
