5 Tips for Teacher Self Care

Happy September! By this time, I’m assuming that many of you have begun your school year. Or, if you haven’t yet, the start of the new school year is fast approaching. Either way, we are all in full-on teacher mode! And, just as we work our hardest to get our students off to a great start, we need to work at getting ourselves off to a great start, too. This is especially important in this strangest of years. As we try to navigate all of the various teaching scenarios , we need to take extra good care of ourselves so we can be at our best for our families, our colleagues, and our students. Although most of these may seem like no-brainers, it doesn’t hurt to be reminded of how we can work on our teacher well-being. Here, in no particular order, are five tips for teacher self-care…

Be healthy. Eat nutritious foods, exercise, and get plenty of rest.

Be reflective. Keep a journal.

Be mindful. Set goals and make plans to reach those goals.

Be realistic. It’s OK to say “no.”

Be positive. Teaching is hard, but you are educated, creative, and talented — you can do hard things!

It’s OK to put yourselves first, teacher friends! The better you care for yourselves, the more effective you will be in your classrooms. If you need to print out some reminders to keep you motivated, I a few FREE resources available in my TpT store to help.

Take extra good care of yourself, and have a fantastic school year!

Love,

Pina Rose
