For the past month, I’ve put a bit of a hold on my CGI Math book study. I’ve been working hard getting my students transitioned from virtual learning to being back in their classrooms. And, I’m getting ready to get my second vaccine dose. But, just because I’m not actively reading about CGI doesn’t mean I’ve abandoned it. In fact, it’s quite the opposite! I find myself using more and more of the strategies and resources! In the process, I’ve discovered three websites that I’ve found helpful.
CGI Math Teacher Learning Center
This site seems to be THE place for getting all the information you need about CGI math. They offer a blog with very informative articles. Professional development is also offered. But, what I found most helpful are the free resources. If you are teaching online, there are even Google Slides and Google Jamboard resources!
Years ago, I was lucky enough to participate in several professional development sessions with Danielle Moore, the founder of Teaching One Moore. I’ve had the opportunity to see her in action in the classroom, and I’m always blown away at how she is able to guide students into using their natural abilities and prior knowledge to solve mathematical problems. She also offers professional development and a thoughtful blog. However, her free resources are what helped me the most and are great for anyone just beginning their CGI journey as a teacher.
This website is not a CGI-specific website. However, they also provide a variety of free resources that I’ve found can be adapted to CGI methods. This is the website that I look to frequently for inspiration when I feel I have run out of story problem ideas or number sets.
Where do you find your math resources and inspiration? I would love for you to share! Be sure to leave some feedback. We’re here to help each other be successful teacher so our students can experience success! Until next time…Happy Teaching!
