You know that feeling you get when there’s a holiday in the middle of the week that throws off the rest of your weekly routines and you feel like you don’t know what day it is? That’s what January feels like to me. Over the years, I’ve discovered that I have a love/hate relationship with January. While everyone is feeling like they get a fresh start with the new year, as a teacher, I’m smack in the middle of my year. January doesn’t feel “new” to me, but I still get the urge to set goals and resolutions. To top this strange feeling off, the world is still dealing with this health crisis that has required everyone to sometimes change their plans at a moment’s notice. What’s the point in setting any goals at all if we don’t know what might be happening in any given moment?
Even with the uncertainties accumulating before us, it’s still important to set goals. However, now more than ever, we need to be flexible with our goals and allow ourselves the time and space to accomplish them. This year, I’ve decided to set my goals by season. I even made myself an organizer! My plan is to set some goals at the beginning of a season, develop some steps I can take throughout the season toward achieving those goals, and then reflecting on my progress at the end of the season. When moving on into the next season, I can migrate any goals still in progress and develop new goals. I think this is the most excited I’ve been about January in a very long time!
If you’d like to join me on this seasonal adventure, I have an organizer available in my TpT store to help. Of course, you don’t need to use my method of organization, but your support of my small business is always appreciated. I’m looking forward to sharing my progress on social media. I hope that you’ll share your progress as well.
Until next time…
