Back to School, Goal setting, virtual teaching

A New Journey…

It’s been quite some time since I’ve shared my journey as an educator. There’s been a new bend in the road and I’ve started on a different path. I’ve become a virtual teacher with an online school in my state. The opportunity came very suddenly, but I accepted it and started back in February. It’s been a whirlwind ever since! Many other projects, including this one, have taken a backseat for the past few months. However, I’m excited to take you all on this journey with me.

Previously, I was working as a tutor in a community near my home in California. It was a lovely transition from being in the traditional classroom. But, I knew wanted and needed more. When my previous employer had us all teaching online from home, I have to say that I wasn’t upset by it. I missed being with my students in-person, but the important part was that I was able to support their growth. As I started considering a return to the traditional classroom, I also started to consider the idea of teaching remotely. I applied for an opportunity, interviewed, and was hired. It all happened so quickly! I jumped in with both feet and it’s been nonstop ever since.

The end of the school year is near. By this time next week, my current third-graders will officially be fourth-graders. I will be returning to the same online school in the same grade level. I’m so excited to start a new school year from the beginning! My plan is to take you on this journey with me as I prepare to start a full school year as an online educator. I will be posting each Saturday with a reflection of the week and some plans and goals for next week.

I hope you will all join me on this new path!
