#teacherlove 5 Things I Love About Teaching

In keeping with my #teacherlove theme for the month of February, I’d like to share my five favorite things about teaching. At first, I was going to rank them, but that’s like asking a mother who is her favorite child! So, here, in no particular order, are five things I love about teaching.

BACK TO SCHOOL SALES

Am I alone in my excitement over seeing displays of pencils and notebooks? Does anyone else get a little thrill when that teaching supply catalog shows up in the mail? There’s just something so exciting about knowing that those are the tools that your students are going to use in their learning journey.

COLLABORATING WITH COLLEAGUES

Whether you’re bouncing ideas off of each other, or mapping out a challenging unit for your kiddos, your colleagues really save your sanity.

READ-ALOUDS

As an elementary school student, my favorite time of day was when my teacher would read to us from an entertaining chapter book. Now, as a teacher, reading to my class is still my favorite time of the day.

THAT HOPEFUL FEELING

In spite of all the stresses that come along with the job, just knowing that my students have unlimited potential makes me feel hopeful.

MEMORIES AND LAUGHTER

Students don’t remember every assessment they take in school. And, teachers don’t remember every assessment they give. We remember those times we connected as humans sharing interesting, inspiring, and funny experiences.

I would love to know what you love about teaching. Leave a comment and stay rosy!
